Not planning to use your spa during the winter? It is essential to take certain precautions when winterising your spa in order to preserve and protect it, we offer you some tips and practical advice.

Winterizing a hot tub involves draining it and turning it off. Before draining the water from your spa, remember to clean the tub and lines. Put TUBE CLEANER in the spa water and run all jets for 20 minutes. Remove the filter cartridges and immerse them in a bucket of our FILTER CLEANING solution. Store them in a clean, dry place during the winter.

Switch off the power supply to the SPA and start draining the SPA. Detach the power pack and hold it so that the plumbing faces the floor to allow all the water to drain out. Once this step is complete, store the pack in a place that stays above 10 degrees. Otherwise the coils could freeze, causing leaks and malfunctions.

Scrub the walls as they are emptied with MAGIC SPONGE. Once emptied, clean and disinfect the wall with CITRUS CLEANER, or LINER CLEANER

Try to remove as much water as possible from the internal plumbing, if there is any water left in your spa, especially in the plumbing, frost damage can occur. If possible, leave the tub open to the sun for an hour or so to ensure that it is dry. It is best to store the bath flat and enclosed in its protective cover, especially if it is going to be stored for some time.

Your spa cover is great for keeping the heat in, but precipitation can seep into the spa and build up. If you leave your empty Softub outside, it is also a good idea to protect your spa with a travel cover or tarpaulin, it acts as a barrier to prevent precipitation from building up during the winter months.

Be sure to carefully remove accumulated snow and ice to avoid unnecessary weight on your spa cover. We recommend sweeping the cover. Never use a shovel as you may damage the vinyl. It is also important to periodically check the spa to ensure that water is not entering the spa through or around the spa cover.

However, many customers keep their hot tubs open all winter as this is the best time to use a hot tub! Rather than winterising your spa for the colder months, consider enjoying your investment. Softub Wellness spas are designed to be your year-round wellness companion. Every spa is relatively easy to maintain, but it can become difficult if neglected. It's the easiest and most affordable way to continue enjoyinghydrotherapy and eliminate the icy cold of the season.

By following winter maintenance tips and using the right products, you can keep your spa in good condition and show it some extra love during the season of snow, sleet, ice and brutal temperatures.
