What is the difference between a Spa and a Jacuzzi?

by in Benefits of our spas 6 June 2021

For many people, Jacuzzi is synonymous with a whirlpool bath. But this is not really the case, in fact the name "Jacuzzi" is the name of a well-known spa brand, simple as that. They are so well known that the name has become a reference and is automatically associated with the word in its category. In other words, all Jacuzzis are Spas, but not all Spas are Jacuzzis.

But what is the origin of the term Jacuzzi?

It comes straight from Italy, Roy Jacuzzi the creator, who named his brand after his family name. Originally it was not a pleasure object as it is often used today, but rather to relieve health problems. He created the basic prototype, but it has evolved since then and new competitors have slowly emerged.

At the beginning, there was stiff competition between Jacuzzi and the Maxxspa (Vita Spa) brand, which were the first to produce this kind of new product. But it was the Italian one that finally got all the attention and transformed people's popular language to such a level that many people don't know it is a brand name today. An example for all companies that want their brand to be recognised!

The paradox in this crazy story? It was Roy Jacuzzi himself who apparently attached the term "Spa" to his products, because one of his acquaintances had apparently just been treated with this object in Belgium in the town of Spa!

What types of spas exist and what are their virtues?

Today's spas have evolved extremely well, so much so that the choice is not always easy. Indeed, not all spa nozzles have the same shape and do not necessarily stimulate the same areas. Sometimes in a seated position, sometimes lying down, it is necessary to be well informed beforehand, as they do not all stimulate the same areas of the body.

Roy Jacuzzi's intention was to treat pain, but despite the entertaining aspect of the object, the number one objective is still very much present. The hydromassage effects reduce the pressure on certain joints, allowing the muscles to be massaged calmly and gently.

The hot water is not there for comfort, but rather to help eliminate toxins and stimulate blood circulation with the help of hydromassage. This is ideal for people who suffer from physical pain such as arthritis. But it is important to remember that it is a great way to relax, and that is one of the good things about your health!

Is the spa also beneficial for athletes?

Much has been said about the positive impact of the spa on people suffering from physical problems such as arthritis. But you don't necessarily have to be in pain to be in need, muscle recovery for sportsmen and women is an excellent virtue too!

On the whole, water itself has a lot of benefits for the physical and mental health of humans, no matter what category you are in, we are all concerned. The spas offered by Softub are perfect for athletes too, as the body can be 'weightless' in the water, allowing the muscles to rest after physical exertion.

During sports activities, the body undergoes a lot of contractions, shocks, fatigue and efforts. Fortunately, nature is good and we are able to recover from these damages with a certain amount of time. The Softub spa will be a perfect ally for people who need to recover more quickly, but above all more effectively. Your muscles will be relaxed, and the heat of the water will dilate the blood vessels and thus increase the blood flow to the weakened organs and tissues. The process will largely accelerate, it is not uncommon to see top sportsmen and women bathing in a spa after an effort of more than an hour at high intensity, it also prevents injuries.

It is clear that some sports require more recovery than others, for example running and boxing. On the other hand, swimmers are already enjoying the benefits of water, but Softub is also aimed at this audience, as it is something that is good for everyone.

The use of a spa is therefore ideal for recovery, but it is not enough to sit and wait for a few minutes. For the more courageous, exercises can be done to accompany this recovery, whether it be for the shoulders, abdominal muscles or legs.
